July 16, 2019 - New Jersey Medical Marijuana Programs are being expanded to help pave the way for eventually making recreational weed legal in NJ. Currently there are 6 dispensaries in New Jersey with plans to open another 6. Lawmakers are also looking to increase the amount of NJ medical marijuana a patient would be allowed to purchase in a month from 2 ounces up to 3 ounces. Lawmakers will continue to look for ways to beef up medical marijuana in the state while trying to accumulate votes to pass a bill for full legalization.
July 1, 2019 - New Jersey government increased the number to 24 new medical marijuana business permits as part of expanding its medical cannabis program, but this was far smaller number than the 108 originally proposed. Lawmakers are continuing to grow the medical marijuana program, but have failed to come to an agreement on recreational marijuana. Applications for the permits are posted and due back by Aug. 21 for dispensary applications and Aug. 22 for the others.
